My husband always called Vavla his "small paradise" - "paradise on earth". This tiny village is located between Larnaca and Limassol in the Troodos Mountain range. Feel as if you have traveled back in time. The village has a beautiful and picturesque landscape, a tranquil, very peaceful environment where you can relax and experience unspoiled nature. Vavla village is part of Cyprus agrotourism project, offering you a taste of rural Cyprus.
“OUR HOUSE” , Your Place to Stay- The house where my husband was born, the stone-built, traditional house was built by his father, all the stones carried by him and his donkeys. Amazing!
We were engaged, married, had our children, and, and, and….. We recently renovated “OUR HOUSE” with respect to tradition, the environment, function and detail.
“OUR HOUSE” is of the ‘makrinari’ style-long rooms built around a central stone-paved courtyard. Four “kamaras” - stone arches, grace the house. Three traditional outdoor stone, wood burning ovens are still used- the ‘everyday one, is sealed with a stone and fixed in place with a paste of ash and water. The big oven was for bread making and is still used for our traditional ‘flounas’-Easter breads. It is also fantastic for parties, a suckling pig, roast chickens a turkey, some kleftiko, and roast potatoes all fit in nicely with room for some more!!! The middle size oven for things in between!
Original hand carved antique furniture has been lovingly restored and you will find many pieces through out the hosue, as well as tools and items from time past.
The house has 4 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 2 sitting rooms, kitchen, dining room, three “iliacous” - shaded alcove areas, the “terratza” open-air roof top patio with a wonderful view of the village and mountains and of course a very large central courtyard-“avli”. Always an opportunity to sunbathe, stargaze and relax in quiet surroundings. Enjoy the hot tub in the courtyard and the sounds from the relaxing water wall. Our “vrakte” -backyard is adjacent to the house, and always gives us something to do-and eat. Artichokes, apricots, lemons, grapes, olives and more…
There are three, one-bedroom rooms with en-suites, suitable for three couples; one of the three has an option of an attached sitting room/sleeping an additional person. Guests have use of the courtyard-“avli”, scenic open-air ‘terratza’, the central sitting room with a fire place. We are on premise to enhance your comfort and offer a traditional village breakfast daily served in the dining room. Roam around or laze around all day. You can book dinner with us. Or invite guests to join you for dinner. Fresh baked bread and traditional food and home made pastry. Book one room or three rooms.
We look forward to making your stay comfortable. Stay with us and experience the privacy, peace, hospitality and beauty you can only encounter in Rural Cyprus.
